Genetic skincare?http://ec.l.thumbs.canstockphoto.com/canstock8266122.jpg Yes!  Custom-designed skincare just for you.

How does this type of service work?

Depending on the company (not much around yet) you will need to send a sample of your DNA.  How?

1.  One company (created by a physician) at your request will mail out a DNA test packet.  Cost?  I don’t know, did not research the cost. My guess- it will not be inexpensive.

2.  You also order a  skincare pack which includes a cleanser, toner and moisturizer to begin to prepare your skin for your personalized skincare products.

3.  When you receive your DNA kit you simply open packet and follow instructions.  Your job is to swab the inside of your cheek for DNA and then place it back in envelope and return.  The company will in turn send it out to their certified Laboratory and within 7-14 days you will have the results.

4.  What do they check?  Collagen, Elasticity, Wrinkling, inflammation, sensitivity, antioxidants and a number of other http://ec.l.thumbs.canstockphoto.com/canstock8266122.jpg  important factors in relation to having healthy skin.

5. Generally, you receive your results within 7-14 days and your results are presented using a ranking system.  High, medium and low risk to certain conditions affecting skin.

6.  Supplements are also included with your skincare.products.

I really think that this is exciting science and should be further investigated by all.  Think of all the skincare creams that you purchase with no results at the end of the day.  This also may be a ray of hope for those suffering from unique and stubborn skin conditions.

Thank you for spending this time with me.  Feel free to email me should you have any questions. Bye for now.

S06 The Power Of Beets

Welcome! Show Notes:  http://skincaretalkradio.cieloscent.com – You can reach me at skincare4radio@gmail.com

Such an important vegetable! Lots of vitamins and nutrients such as vitamins A,C, folic acid, fiber, manganese, copper and potassium! Also, high in iron so if you are tired all the time a little raw beet juice may increase your energy. Caution if you are prone to kidney stones-refrain from eating. ALWAYS consult with your Medical Doctor before adding or changing your health regiment. Never stop any medication with talking to your doctor.

Helps prevent anemia. Beets contain anti-cancer properties which can reduce the risk of several different types of cancer. wow! Lowers cholesterol too! Those individuals suffering from inflammatory conditions such as arthritis can benefit from adding beets to their diets. I actually drink my beets! Beets are anti-inflammatory and can help in reducing pain and swelling! Beets have been found to help in certain mental conditions such as depression. It’s been found that Beets can lower blood pressure. Two -three cups of beet juice daily according to a 2008 study proved to lower blood pressure.  Great for healthy blood stream and when consumed in its raw state becomes an amazing blood purifier! Yes! It helps the liver do what it is suppose to do to keep us super healthy.. All the studies out there indicate that consuming beet juice also increases the blood flow in our brains. Beets lose a great deal of their health  benefits when cooked, so juicing raw is best.

Hi Everyone!  One of the most sought after medical help is due to lack of sleep.  Yes! Insomnia! It’s a terrible thing for those suffering from deprivation of sleep, night after night. Listen to today’s podcast and learn how- by adding extra steps to your bedtime routine– that  you can actually get a good night’s sleep again. .  Below is summary of topics presented on this podcast.

Please consult your medical doctor before you add or change anything in your health regiment.  This is an opinion based blog intended to encourage you to conduct your own further research.
1.  Take Inventory of your  bedroom:
Remove the TV from your room
Invest in great bedding-
Add Blinds or shades that allow the room to remain dark until you open the blinds.
Keep room slightly on the cooler side.
Add Lavender or other soothing scent.  If you prefer -like myself-no scent in the room okay too.
Add white noise to buffer the outside sound. You can use earplugs but do so with caution.
Remove electronics that shine a light such as an electric alarm clock. Remove or cover light.
Remove items such as a wall clock that may makes movement sounds-the ticking sound.

2.   Sleep Rituals
Create a bed time. A time that you will retire each night.
Take a warm shower
Make a cup of tea- Chamomile, Valerian, Linden Tea leaves-no sugar-Check with your Doctor.
Investigate adding Melatonin or other herbal sleep aids but do so with caution.
Wear 100 percent cotton pajama
Lightly Stretch before sleep.
No noise better but meditation or soothing recording okay too.

3.   Consult with your medical practitioner most especially if you are taking medication.
4.   Be consistent in your bedtime ritual and create a healthy habit in 30 days.
5.   Before you close your eyes say your prayers, meditate or visualize positive things for your life.
6.   Do not eat heavy at dinner time. If a little hungry at bedtime roll up a slice of organic turkey.
7.   Get out of your own head-stop taking your worries to bed with you.

May this day offer you just what you need in each unfolding moment.  Smiles & Hugs!

S03 Mature Skincare For Men

http://skincaretalkradio.cieloscent.com — As a Skincare Therapist, I’ve discovered the power that conscious and constant habits have on well-being and beauty. Drink water! Yes!  Your remove the waste in your body and you stay hydrated.  Nourishing your body from within is key to having healthy skin. Make wise life style choices. Eliminate sugar, coffee, and alcohol. Exercise gets your blood circulating supplying oxygen to all of your tissue cells. Consider adding supplements such as a multivitamin, Resveratrol, and omega 3.  Always check with your medical  doctor before changing or adding anything to your health care regiment. Lessen the stress! Yes, stress shows on your face! Consider a massage or visit a skincare therapist because both are relaxing. A skin therapist is the best person to tell you what type of your skin you have and its condition.  If budget is an issue at least visit a skin therapist if only once to get you on a skin care regiment designed for you. Reconnect with nature by spending time out doors.  Take a hike, walk or go for a  bike ride  because you RE-jeuvenate your spirit and your body just loves the movement. Wear your sun screen! Wear your sunglasses!  Men like a simple skincare routine. If the skincare regiment is simple then you will stick to it. Simple as that!   Men experience a thinning of their skin but  have a thicker skin so are able to keep the collagen and elastin levels up  . Men have larger pores and produce more oil than women so acne may be an issue. Men experience wrinkles around their eyes first  because men don’t usually care for their skin other than shaving. The shaving area  being exfoliated so keeps skin looking youthful.  Do you need your own skin line? No. not really.  The only difference is generally men either have no scent or a more masculine scent which is generally over scented and unpleasant.

Okay, let’s talk skincare: Basic Care

You need a facial cleanser designed for your skin type. Splash warm water on your face first. Apply Your Cleanser in a circular manner. You need to clean your face.

Tone : To close the pores. Maintains your natural’s skin pH.

Moisturize:  . According to your skin type.

Use Sunscreen-and Use Vitamin C Serums (antioxidants)   Vitamin C Serums:  stimulate your collagen production. It will brighten your skin too!

HORMONES  The hair follicles in the nose and ears are truly sensitive to male hormones like testosterone which means more hair.  It’s totally normal and nothing that can’t be handled by your barber. We have so much to talk about but this is the basic skin care regiment that you do each day. Daily deposits into your skincare will keep it healthy and vibrant. The most important thing that you can do is your own research!  You are your best advocate.  My intention is to ignite you to do your own research based on what you read/hear on this blog or any other venue. Education and research is key to healthy mind, body and skin! There is no “fountain of youth” but we can slow down the aging process by implementing a holistic approach to our skincare habits. Thanks for your time and make it a great week! xoxoxo.

S02: Mature Skincare For Women

Summary of Today’s Podcast Message.                                  Keep It Simple Skincare!
Please feel free to email your questions:     skincare4radio@gmail.com

Friends, those small deposits that we make into our skincare everyday will help us to age with grace and beauty. This is a brand new show and I am so excited to share with you information that is based on research and conversations with women just like you.  Feel free to share your story and together we will empower one another with knowledge.  Knowledge is power so share the wealth!

Enjoy the program! Hi Everyone!  It is quite common during a skincare consultation to discuss nutrition.  Therapists are quite convinced that our “environment” affects our skin.  When I say, “environment” I refer to your nutrition, level of stress, daily habits, and of course your skincare regiment. All of these factors work synergistic to either improve or deplete the overall look of your skin. In our last podcast, we spoke of hormones and their effects on skin.
Let’s talk Hormones:
Our hormones play a major role in your skin.  Yup! Your endocrine glands are busy producing hormones.  Where are your endocrine glands? In your head! Thyroid! Lower Torso!  Yes, these hormones are chemical messengers and are sent out  throughout your bloodstream to do their job. Our skin undergoes significant  changes throughout our life and as women estrogen plays a major role. By the way, we don’t own estrogen-men have it too!   We make estrogen in our ovaries which include estradiol, estrone (menopause), and estriol. The first thing you will notice in aging skin is in the lack of thickness. You begin to notice that your skin is thinner.  Why?  There is a decline in your estrogen levels and this invites lines, wrinkling, dryness, sagging but only if we let it.  Where’s the fat!? We begin to lose the fat that you need to keep all in place. We also begin to lose the elasticity and this gives us that sagging and “older” appearance. Collagen is what keeps our skin thick and hydrated which keeps our skin wrinkle-free. Estrogen has anti inflammatory properties which keep us young looking. Women experiencing Rosacea will notice a more pronounced episode during menopause. Some of us during menopause experience oily and acne skin instead of the typical dry skin expected of us. Yup! You can blame testosterone because it’s responsible for the skin’s sebum (oil) production.  You see ladies, testosterone is part of the male hormone family Androgens.  Since we have some testosterone too then we acquire some of its not so lovely traits during menopause.  Have you noticed any hair growth where it doesn’t belong lately?  There is an imbalance between estrogen and androgen during our menopausal years. I ask you what are we, “mature” divas to do?
Let’s Talk Skincare:
http://us.cdn4.123rf.com/168nwm/kakigori/kakigori1103/kakigori110300073/9043854-blonde-woman-applying-facial-beauty-skin-care-cream-mask-treatment.jpg1.  Clean your face every night! Skin types are different but if  your skin is on the drier side due to the “change”–. What a terrible term to use for what is part of our natural process in life as women–then I don’t advise you to use any gel or foam type of cleanser.  These type of cleansers will stripe the oil you need right off your face. Also, don’t use cleansers that have those little pearls of “natural exfoliation” they are too harsh on your skin.  You will simply irritate your already delicate skin.
Use instead:
A cleanser is to simply clean your skin. Period.  There is no “anti-aging” magic to it so please save your money by using a simple effective cleanser.
Over the counter Suggestion:
Cetaphil Gentle skin Cleanser-Range: $ 4-7 which makes it cost effective.
I like this cleanser because it does not aggravate dry or oily skin conditions.
From The kitchen cupboard
This is one of the products that I use at night: I use first cold pressed RAW Coconut oil.(Non-GMO)
-Use a small GLASS. Depending on weather coconut oil changes it’s state from liquid to solid.  Both states are effective but just remember to use a clean tool to remove the product.
– Splash warm water on your face or use a warm cloth on face to open pores.
– Begin to gently massage oil in an upward motion and then very carefully begin to massage makeup (if any) off your eyes.  Be very careful around your eyes.
Always test ANY new product whether it is “organic”, “natural” or Famous brand.
-Rinse your face and then pat dry.  Use your clean hands to massage the residue into your skin.  There is absolutely no need to add more moisture.  You are set to go to sleep.  No, you don’t need a toner in the evening.  If you feel better spray a bit of European rose water (helps preserve our acid mantle) on your face.  Again, check for sensitivities.
Coconut oil has amazing antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.  A must have in every single kitchen cupboard.  A money saver too!  If you still have that yucky oil feel then use the rose water or regular water. Don’t worry your skin’s potential hydrogen (pH) is safe with this .Our skin pH ranges between 5.4 & 5.5
-if you are not  using coconut oil for cleansing then you can use it as a moisturizer but make sure that your face is wet when you apply it.
Over the Counter Moisturizer:
Shiseido Bio performanceAdvanced Super Revitalizing Cream.  This product is costly but my skin loves it! This Japanese skincare company has been around for over 100 years! I like when you go to their counter you  receive a free skin consultation.  My clients loved the use of this product on their skin.  They are a partner company with a brand you are most likely familiar with:  Bare Minerals.
Other important skin regiment that work:
Get a good night’s sleep.  Yup!  Your skin health depends on a  restful night sleep.  Why? Restless nights equal stress and this elevates the hormone cortisol and encourages INFLAMMATION and other not-so-great skin conditions.
Drink your water – If you are thirsty drink water.   Stay hydrated.  Will drinking water make you young? No, but it is great for your body, skin and brain.
-Have a great mental attitude! Hard to believe?   Set the tone of the day and you will have less frowns on your face.  You will combat stress. Set time each morning to pray, meditate, smile and laugh! learn something new!
Exercise is a MUST for healthy skin not to mention the other parts of your body. It increases your blood flow which carries oxygen to all of your tissue cells.  If you have Rosacea or other skin conditions protect your skin from flare ups during exercising.
Use Sunscreen!

Thank you for sharing your time with me.  Please always consult with your medical professional before adding or changing any part of your healthcare regiment. Email: skincare4radio@gmail.com http://www.stitcher.com/s?fid=51078&refid=stpr

S01: Welcome To My Very First Episode!

Show Notes:  Listen to radio show for complete message. Thanks.

Welcome to my very first episode of Skincare Talk Radio, where the focus is on the “mature” skin for both men and women. I have designed this show with your questions in mind. I became interested in Oncology Esthetics and Mature Skincare, while completing-the state required– 600 hours of training.
http://ec.l.thumbs.canstockphoto.com/canstock8266122.jpg
Each Week, we will address your questions in depth and offer you possible solutions. It is my sincere hope that you find my radio program, encouraging and most especially helpful.

Let’s begin with our very first question:

How do I know if my skin is considered “mature?”

It truly depends on the condition of your skin.  I have known individuals in their 30’s with skin damaged by the sun which added ten or more years to their face. In general, men in their forties and up and women in their menopausal years are considered “mature skin”.  This is primarily due to the fluctuations of hormones during these years such as :

  1. Progesterone
  2. Estrogen
  3. Androgenic
  4. Testosterone

Many individuals begin to experience dull and thin skin, formation of lines, wrinkles, dry and itchy skin.

http://ec.l.thumbs.canstockphoto.com/canstock8266122.jpgOn Next week’s episode we will target :

Mature Skincare for Women and the following week: Mature Skincare for men.

Step by step suggestions on the proper skincare routine for each episode. In addition, I will include organic homemade skin care receipes right out of your kitchen cupboard! Hey! Great idea, we will call it, “Kitchen Cupboard Skincare” segment.  How’s that?  Okay, there you have it, a little introduction on what you can expect with each show.  Thank you so much for sharing your time with me.

Please feel free to email me your skincare questions. Use your sunscreen, drink your water and Remember that Great skin begins from within.

Make it a great week!
