S14: Pure Vegetable Glycerin As A Moisturizer – You can reach me at:

This blog is intended to offer suggestions and you should check with your doctor first if you have a medical condition or have any questions.

Okay, let’s talk PURE vegetable Glycerin.  Glycerin is a humectant and it is a clear-colored liquid. What’s a humectant?  It simply means that it absorbs water from the air and brings moisture to your skin. This allows for your skin to remain super-soft and hydrated.  It is very important that you purchase PURE vegetable glycerin by your local vitamin store or whole foods. The product is very inexpensive  depending on store but normally around $5.50.  This will last you a long time because you only need a tiny bit and it has a lengthy shelf life.  If you are sensitive to smells-not to worry-it is completely odorless and won’t clog your pores. This is a very thick and sticky substance and I like to dilute it with Rosewater.  Okay, so how do you use this on your face?
First time use try it at night on one side of your face and  in small amounts. Make sure that you are not sensitive to it in anyway.  AVOID eye area completely. Okay?

If you can pour some of the glycerin in a small glass bottle with dropper (cobalt) that would make it easier to use. Place two drops of Glycerin in a little dish and three drops of rose water or regular water.  Gently mix and apply with a cotton. Depending on your skin-you may feel a slight warmth to your skin but if you find uncomfortable then rinse it off.  You may prefer to simply (like I do) spritz your face with rose or regular water first and then apply a tiny amount of glycerin.  The warmth to your face is not harmful but if you are uncomfortable then rinse it off. You can use it under your make up and for me it temporarily shrinks my deep laugh lines (don’t tell). Vegetable Glycerin is hypoallergenic and is antibacterial making it great for acne prone skin. Some people use it on their hair and love it.  Personally, I have never tried it on my hair but intend to and will share the results with you. There you have it!   Another inexpensive way to take care of the skin!
